...Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him
For the help of His presence. (ps42:5)
And now, Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in You. (39:7)
I realize what my heart sometimes actually answers to that question:
For what do I wait? My hope is in: familiarity, friendship, companionship, good health, family, job security, the ability to meet the needs of a husband and children, becoming more (whatever), paying off my loans, avoiding loneliness, not missing out, having fun, doing something useful with my life, being adequate for (whatever)......just about everything but God.
Of course, the provisions for any needs in my life ultimately have their root in God's power and character as my loving and guiding Father. Why do I find it so easy sometimes to put my hope in anything else?
