...as I must quietly oversee my current visitor as they work.
My eyelashes are twitching from lack of sleep.
My stomach is growling because all I had for breakfast was two donut holes and coffee.
My head feels a little fuzzy from insufficient sleep and food.
I'm weary from carrying a squirmy kid down the hall and from lack of sleep and food.
But I do love my job.
And I believe the children are our future.........(smirk)
While that thought may be true, the song still makes me giggle. In all it's sincerity and 80's-ish-ness.
...in them that are saved, and in them that perish. 2Cor2:15

This is How I Feel Today

I'm Old...
...but not that old!
I was supervising a seven or eight year old boy who volunteered to wash tables after lunch.
A lady came over and said, "you have good helpers!"
"Yeah!" I said.
"Is he your son?"
(Mental Gasp) "Oh no, kids just volunteer to help."
*sigh*

Fireproof
I'm listening to Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber, which is eight minutes of minor chords and languishing strings. Kind of depressing, but it's beautiful and fits my introspective mood. : )
Today I saw the movie Fireproof with some friends. The focus of the movie is the marriage of the two main characters. I am challenged afresh to fight for and work on my marriage with humility and forgiveness, when I have one that is. : )
The characters clearly presented the Gospel within the storyline, so that was really cool. I haven't heard that in a theatre very much.
You should go see it!

Prayer
I consider this a place to share some things that are on my heart with a few family and friends. I know some of you pray for me, so I thought I would share some requests. In this new phase of life, I feel the need to more purposefully reach out for connections as well as offer encouragement. Please let me know how I can pray for you!
*Growth in my abilities in working with children in school and piano
*Wisdom for significant decisions I must make in the next few weeks and months
*Increasing trust in God's guidance, and willingness to go or stay, despite my fears of both options.
*Driving practice: for various reasons I haven't driven much in the last couple years. God has graciously provided for my transportation through other people in ways I could never hope to repay. But it's time for me to learn again. : )
*To love Jesus Christ with all my heart, to enjoy Him abundantly. My love has felt doubting and tenuous these last weeks and months, but He keeps gently prodding me forward, and I am so grateful for His mercy and unrelenting pursuit of my heart. May I respond with loving and heart-level obedience.

Upon First Waking Up
My Hair Isn't Called Anything
For weeks I have been proclaiming, "I have to get my hair cut!" However, it has taken a while to reach the next step of going through with it. But after several pep talks from different members of my family, (Becky, what's the worst that could happen?) I decided to do it. I actually really liked how it turned out, but after a couple days I decided the bangs were too long. So we tried to cut them a little bit, but I haven't been able to figure out what to do with them at this length either. Maybe the length is too short this time.
Anyways, I have been pinning them back, since that is easier than trying to style them. Curiously enough, I could find no name for this type of hairstyle.
After much searching, I did find the word "quiff."
But in looking for pictures of a quiff, I seriously could only find ones like this:

which is highly inaccurate.
Another word that occasionally popped up was "pompadour."
Again, the pictures didn't seem to be what I was looking for. Well, first he is a guy, as was the previous subject, and also that is not what mine looks like at all.

Actually, this last one I came across is a little closer, except it is way neater and straighter and sleeker. And it is very tight and looks uncomfortable. But it's a very vague picture of what I was going for, believe it or not, in the pictures in my previous post. It is possibly almost the only picture of a woman anywhere on the internet that corresponds to the word "quiff" and actually looks normal.

I have wanted to have bangs since I was in highschool, and it has never worked out very well the few times that I tried it, but I actually liked the result this time, so maybe I am getting closer. : ) With some practice, I'll figure out what to do with them so they don't have to live on in invisible ambiguity.

Laugh More
I was innocently reading through the yahoo homepage news stories and happened upon this happy bit of information. : )
"And it has been confirmed that personality profile Type C—people that tend towards melancholy, depression, and excessive worry — are prone to develop cancer."
I don't tend to be depressed most of the time, but the other things are characteristic.
God certainly knows that our attitudes can affect our health and Scripture says that a joyful heart is good medicine!
